1.
Can I host my web site with
Axiom Networking Solutions if I already have my Domain Name?
Of course. It's even easier if you already have your domain name registered.
All you need to do is to point your domain name to our server after you
sign up an account with us by setting the DNS (Domain Name Server) Entries
to:
NameServer1: ns1.axiomnet.com.au
NameServer2: ns2.axiomnet.com.au
Please do not enter the IP addresses.
2. I want to update the Contact details of my domain name, what
is the process?
To make changes to your domain name contact details (if your domain name was
registered through us), log into your domain management facility here.
3. How much does it cost to register / renew a domain name?
Our domain name registration/renewal prices are publicly available
here.
4. Where can I see the current registration details for my
domain name?
You can view the current registration details for your domain name by using
a Whois service. Please note that complete registration details for domain
names are only displayed at the registrar of record.
The Whois services refresh at certain intervals (commonly 1-30 minutes), so
after completing a registration or submitting modifications to your domain
name record, you should wait approximately 30 minutes before checking the
Whois records.
To check the Whois record for a
domain click

5. Which domain name should I choose?
The domain name you choose should meet 2 key guidelines:
It should be easy for your customers to remember
It should say something about your organisation and protect your online
identity
Traditionally organisations have simply used their business name as the
basis for their domain name. For example: ibm.com and microsoft.com – this
is a good place to start. If your organisation's exact name is unavailable,
you can always consider abbreviations or acronyms.
6. What is a Registry Key?
A Registry Key is a password that allows the registrant or an authorised
person to perform modifications to the domain name's registration details -
it is not a registration confirmation number. Registry Keys are composed of
a sequence of characters and are case sensitive – they can include numbers
and letters.
Each domain name has a unique Registry Key attached to it. The key provides
access to modify both registration and delegation details exclusively for
that domain name. Your Registry Key is emailed to you upon completion of a
successful registration so you should be sure to keep a record of it.
7. How long does it take to
have my domain name activated?
The newly registered Domain name or
one that you are transferring to Axiom Networking Solutions from another
hosting service provider may take up to 72 hours (usually much less) to
fully register around the Net. This is because of safeguards built in to the
Net for your protection. There is no way to speed up this process. But this
should not hold you up with the preparation of your web site.
8. What is a domain
name?
A domain name (e.g.
yourdomainname.com.au) signifies your own unique address on the
Internet. It is how your customers will remember you and find you
among the millions of other web sites on the Internet.
9.
How many characters can my domain name have?
Your domain name can have up to 63
characters, not including the extension (.com.au or .org.au are examples of
extensions).
10. What characters can be used in domain names?
Domain names can have up to 63
characters. This means that the domain name you choose
can-have-up-to-63-characters.com.au - You will sometimes find references to
67 character domain names, this includes the dot and the letters c-o-m as an
additional 4 characters.
One of the advantages of longer domain
names is that you can register phrases such as puff-the-magicdragon.com.au
The valid characters for use in a .com.au
domain name are:
any of the letters a to z example abcdefg.com.au
any numbers 0 to 9 example 911.com.au
you may also use a hyphen (-) for example: place-hyphens-here.com.au
the domain can be a combination of numbers, letters and hyphens, for
example: b-2-b.com.au
the domain can begin and end in a number, for example: 9to5.com.au
the domain name cannot begin or end with a hyphen
the domain name must be a minimum of 2 characters long
